CNN's Steve Goldberg Visits Auschwitz

Home » CNN's Steve Goldberg Visits Auschwitz

January 27th will be the 60th anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz, and CNN’s Steve Goldberg toured the former death camp as part of a journalists’ study tour. His report is now online at CNN. The feelings and emotions he describes reminds me of how I felt when I visited Dachau (during one of my first trips to Munich).

That report is moving. I only hope the world does not forget. Like all racist evil, I fear that anti-semitism is a continuing danger, now more than ever.

I am a second generation Holocaust Survivor. My father is living and is 84 yrs old. I am ready to share my father’s personal experience in surviving the Holocaust. It is too painful for me to talk about it without crying. For most of my life, I have been reminded of the horrors that my father endured by looking at the numbers forever tatooed on his skin. His experience was videotaped by the Shoah Foundation. I plan to discuss his story on radio and hope to have his experiences published in newspapers. I have an obligation to remind others never to forget.
