Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy: The Movie

Home » Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy: The Movie

I don’t know how I feel about this one. “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” is my favorite series (I’ll confess to rereading the full 5 volume trilogy every year or so). But a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie? I guess it was inevitable, but honestly, I am not sure that I want to see what some director thinks Zaphod Beeblebrox should look like. Not a lot of info yet, but go to http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/ for, um, not that much actually.

It started as a radio series (six episodes, then another five, then a xmas special). Then came a TV series (I think that came next) and the books match the TV series. The radio series was far funnier (and longer) than the TV series. It’ll be interesting to see how much the movie will be influenced by the original TV series.

Here’s a nice interview with the director and producer of the movie.

The radio series was great, the TV series less so, and the picture edition of the first book was horrible.

I think it’s interesting that they have a blog for the movie’s production company…I wonder how often it’ll get updated.

And don’t forget the classic Infocom adventure game!

I have a very well formed opinion about having the guy who was "Willow" playing Marvin – but to be polite I’ll keep it to myself.
I’ll be avoiding this one, as without DNA’s personal input (forever may he drink in the halls of Asgard) it will never be as good as the radio play / books / TV series.
To quote Zaphod in a moment of ultimate pragmatism, "This marble is as smooth as… this marble".
