Flash MX 2004 features a rich set of components, from simple form controls to data grids and trees. The components are objects which all inherit from a base UIObject (which in turn inherits from MovieClip). Waleed Anbar’s Flash Component Architecture article (http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/flash/articles/component_architecture.html) contains a nice component hierarchy chart at http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/flash/articles/component_architecture/figure_1.html, if you are playing with components in Flash MX 2004 you may want to print a copy of this to keep nearby.
