Verity searches (performed using ) return standard ColdFusion queries containing the search results. As such, to display the number of matches, you could simply refer to query.RecordCount (as you’d do with any query). But what if you wanted to also display the number of records searched (to be able to display something like “12 out of 2500 records matched”)? The query returned by contains an extra variable not present in other queries, query.RecordsSearched will contain the number of records searched (the number of records in the collection).
