CFWACK Wins A 2009 Community Achievement Award

These awards are almost meaningless. I voted this year and the sites and people who I wanted weren't even listed in some categories. The nominations for this need to be much wider and accurate, not a list of 3 options. The book one is a bit of a joke, since there really is only one book.

I won't comment on the awards in general, as I don't know how they work. But, as for the books category, the list seemed to also include Flex and RIA books, and was not limited to ColdFusion books. --- Ben

lol, I wasn't going there:) Was just confused that your were confused. Maybe the next version needs a chapter on not being confused by the confused. I'll write it but it might be confusing..

@peter Isn't that pretty much my point? Showing only examples with no "best use" or "best security" only leads to more people doing it incorrectly, I did it that way for years because it wasn't in the book. "best use

Disagree with Dave on that one! Your examples should provide not only best use but also most secure. <CFQUERYPARAM> is just an example of what you SHOULD do when using the <CFQUERY> tag.

Congrats again Ben! Of course since at least ColdFusion 4 the CFWACK series have been bestsellers and for good reason!

Congrats! Not to spoil the party as I love the books and use them all the time but there are a few issues I have with them. 1. Went from 1 book to 3 books (aka $55 to $180) and yet it seems most of the info I need I end up having to go find and download chapters that aren't included. Between the 3 books they could have been out it. I can't tell you how many times I visited "the office" with intent of reading up on something just so see that it isn't there. 2. Better code samples. Not for me but for the new coders that are learning just like we all have with these books. What I mean is more "realistic" samples that highlight "proper" coding methods and not just the quickest way. The main one of these is cfquery. There should be 1 example of cfquery that isn't using cfqueryparam and that sample is just to show the basic tag but the rest are properly done. It seems to me with the open source versions coming out that cfm is starting to pick up more traction and we should be getting these guys going right :)
