Flex Apps Minus The Server

Actually, I haven't tried 3.0... I am using FuseBox 4.1 for the bigger sites, but if I am trying out something new like CF flash forms I just do it on one page... I haven't had a chance to try out Mach-II, mainly because I couldn't find a book to jump into. I actually wish I could pull out all the unnecessary crap I don't use, but I never got into it long enough to try :) I thought about learning java but I have been working hard with my C# stuff so that won't happen any time soon... although my java for CF devs book is on my bookshelf collecting dust, maybe I should take a look at it ;)

This is eclipse 3.0 + yes? It also sounds like you're coding using EPIAI (Every page is an Island). You should consider learning Fusebox 4 or Mach-II, although I prefer Model-Glue as this is easier for CF developers to understand. Eclipse is becoming the IDE of choice for many developers. Even Macrobe are pushing it. It's an industry standard that a lot of software companies are developing plug-ins for. You need to know this tool. Being Java centric is not exactly true. Yes it's roots are in Java development, but the plugins target the environment to the technology of your choice. Then again CF is Java these days...

Yea, I tried it, and it is alright. There were just a couple things wrong... 1. Eclipse is primarily used for Java, although you can use plugins all the java stuff is in there. 2. The interface is ass ugly ;) although that is more of an opinion. 3. I couldn't find an FTP plugin. This was probably my biggest issue. I am just too use to hitting ctrl+s and checking the results in my browser or hitting f12 to the same affect. I think if there was a FTP plugin, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

Eclipe is amazing. You should have a look at the CFeclipse plugin.

I noted that this is an Eclipse tool, does this mean you are moving away from Dream Weaver, or am I just using the wrong tool ;). I have never been much of an eclipse fan, I can't stand unpolished interfaces...

I'm in some way assuming that this is in response to OpenLaszlo 3 with it's new SOLO deployment feature. http://www.openLaszlo.org For those that don't know, Laszlo is the open source rival to Flex and have a feeling that they will be hopping over each other on features. Adam
