Flex Data Services Minus The Flash Client

Flex Data Services provide rich data management and messaging capabilities. But what if you are not using a Flash client? What if you are using good old JavaScript, including Ajax type clients? Well, as first sneaked at MAX in Las Vegas, now JavaScript clients can leverage FDS using Ajax Data Services just posted on Labs.

    Good news… except that $20K per CPU rules it out for anything worth writing. What a joke.

    Hans, are you aware of the free, limited-production version of Flex Data Services Express 2? It would probably suit the needs of most. The couple of limitations are listed here:

    It is good idea to create this kind of technology for Ajax users. But Ben – is it really without "Flash client"? By "Flash client" I understand FlashPlayer in this case. When I look into the samples on Labs I see they are loading some SWF file so this means we must have "Flash client" installed. Anyway – really good idea!
