When you think of Detroit you think of the automobile industry, Motown, various sports teams … and probably not ColdFusion or Macromedia. Well, at least not initially. The fact of the matter is that there is a whole lot of Macromedia product being used in the area, and lots of ColdFusion too. And so it is worth noting that April will be an important month in Metro Detroit:
- Powered by Detroit CF/Flash Conference is the first conference of its kind in the Detroit area, and is designed to promote the use of Flash and ColdFusion together as the dynamic medium for the future of the internet. Speakers include Alexandru Costin, Angela Buraglia (my CFWACK co-author), Charlie Arehart, Hal Helms, Jeff Tapper, Jeffry Houser, Mike Dinowitz, Michael Smith, and Simon Horwith, as well as several Macromedians including Greg Rewis and Kevin Hoyt. Oh, and I’ll be speaking too. The event runs April 9th-April 10th at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn (a mere 15 minutes from Metro Airport, and even closer to the Detroit Casinos). There is still room for last minute registrants, so if you are in the area (or can be) do sign up.
- The Detroit Area ColdFusion User Group has been resurrected, and the inaugural meeting (hosted by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is scheduled for April 13th. I’ll be speaking at this event. Details can be found at the new Detroit Area ColdFusion User Group web site. If you are in the area please drop by.
It’s good to see Metro Detroit make it onto the CF and Macromedia community map. Even more so as these events are almost in my own backyard!
