Europe, Here I Come

While the crowds start gathering down under for MXDU, I am about to cross the Atlantic to Europe. I’ll be there for 10 days for ColdFusion MX 7 launch activities and events in England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, and Netherlands. A couple of user group meetings have been scheduled too (see my home page for details and links), and I am looking forward to a productive (albeit exhausting trip). So, next blog post will be from London, I hope. And with that I’m outta here!

Pat, the schedule was arranged by Macromedia UK on conjunction with the various country managers. I do not know why France is not on the list this time.

Since the last 4 years, I had the feeling that PHP and ASP were gaining more attention than Coldfusion in France (understand that by french developers and companies). When I read that France is not on your list does it means that the number of CF developers is so tiny in France that you would loose your time over there ? Developers over there like coldfusion and it’s probably more at the decision level (eg:IT managers) and education in general where Macromedia has to put some efforts to convince french to use Coldfusion. When you looking for a job as a web developer, it’s so rare to find a coldfusion developer position. Another example is that link to a popular french website and the article is about the 14 main programming languages

PHP, Actionscript is there … but sadly nothing about Coldfusion :-(. I hope Macromedia will do something about it.

France, don’t feel unwelcome! Oui?
Translation: It’s not (just) your problem (France) Cf is not popular in US either. PLEASE, Macromedia, please understand that CF is good, but we NEED better marketing. Cf is lost. Yes?
    NOT complaining about Ben, "neither"!
