Oh me oh my,
Oh me oh my,
To think that
100 years have gone by.
You touched the child in us all,
Made being silly ok,
Inspired so many to read,
Added laughter to our days.
And so on this, your birthday,
Dear Dr. Seuss,
For all the nonsensical fun,
A heartfelt thank you!

  1. This is a little strange, but I think it gives me additional insight into your personality, Mr. Forta…. 😉

  2. Uh, thanks JD.
It was actually lots of fun to write. I know that some may raise their eyebrows when realizing that I was able to write all of that without a single Dr. Seuss book in front of me, but I have a good excuse … I have 7 kids, I learned it all from them. Really.
    Not buying that, huh? 🙂

  3. One of his most popular books, Green Eggs and Ham, was the result of a bet that he could not write a book using only 50 words.
These are, in order of appearance: I am Sam; that; do not like; you green eggs and ham; them; would here or there; anywhere; in a house with mouse; eat box fox; car they; could; may will see tree; let me be; train on; say the dark; rain; goat; boat; so try may; if; good; thank.
